Tottenham Hotspur boss Roberto De Zerbi is reportedly determined to land two key signings from AS Roma—provided Spurs secure their Premier League status this season.
It has been a difficult campaign for the north London side, who are still battling to avoid relegation. While some believe dropping down a division could offer a reset, others within the club see it as potentially disastrous.
Despite the challenges, De Zerbi has brought renewed belief, guiding Spurs to consecutive wins and starting to establish a clear identity on the pitch. However, the task ahead remains tough, with crucial fixtures against Leeds United, Chelsea, and Everton still to play.
Transfer plans already in motion
Tottenham are not waiting for survival to be confirmed before planning their summer moves. The club has already shown interest in Bournemouth defender Marcos Senesi, while Galatasaray midfielder Gabriel Sara is also on their radar.
De Zerbi is playing a key role in shaping recruitment strategy and is now targeting reinforcements from his native Italy.
According to reports, the Spurs manager is pushing hard to sign goalkeeper Mile Svilar and midfielder Lorenzo Pellegrini.
Key positions targeted
Tottenham are expected to strengthen in goal, with Guglielmo Vicario likely to return to Italy. Inter Milan are said to be preparing a move to bring him in as part of their summer plans.
Svilar, currently at Roma since 2022, has emerged as De Zerbi’s preferred replacement between the posts.
Meanwhile, Pellegrini is viewed as a solution to Spurs’ need for experience and control in midfield. The Roma vice-captain, who has over 30 caps for Italy, has previously attracted interest from Crystal Palace and West Ham United.
As Tottenham look to rebuild and stabilise, De Zerbi is keen to bring in players he trusts—and the Roma pair appear to be central to his plans.
