Tottenham player has ‘just finished recovery’ from injury – Should join training on Thursday

Tottenham Hotspur defender Luka Vušković has reportedly completed his recovery from injury and is set to return to full training with Hamburg SV this week.

The 19-year-old centre-back, who has been on loan in Germany since last summer, has impressed during his time in the Bundesliga. However, concerns arose after he was sidelined with a knee issue following his last appearance on April 4.

Injury Concerns and Mixed Reports

Vušković’s absence sparked a wave of conflicting reports across German media. Earlier in April, Hamburg manager Merlin Polzin confirmed the player was undergoing “intensive treatment,” while subsequent reports suggested the injury could be serious.

Despite the speculation, optimism soon followed. Hamburg sporting director Claus Costa indicated there was hope the young defender could still feature again before the end of the season.

Positive Update from Croatia

According to Croatian outlet Sportske Novosti, those fears may have been overstated. The report claims that while Vušković did experience knee discomfort, there was no severe damage as initially suggested.

Sources now indicate the Spurs-owned defender is “fully healthy” and has “just finished his recovery.” Over the past few days, he has returned to the pitch, training individually as he builds back full match fitness.

Return to Team Training Imminent

Vušković is expected to rejoin full team training on Thursday, marking a significant step in his comeback. His availability for selection will then be assessed ahead of Hamburg’s upcoming fixture against Eintracht Frankfurt.

If not deemed ready for that match, a return against SC Freiburg on May 10 could be more realistic.

Spurs Decision Still Pending

One key detail still unclear is whether Tottenham’s medical team must give final approval before Vušković can fully return to action. The Premier League club may have the final say on when their young defender resumes competitive football.

Looking ahead, Vušković’s future could also become a talking point this summer. With Roberto De Zerbi facing a crucial period at Spurs, decisions will need to be made regarding the defender’s role—especially if the club’s league status changes.

For now, though, the focus remains on getting back onto the pitch, with Vušković edging ever closer to a timely return.
