Will have to go – Gold says Tottenham could sacrifice outstanding talent to make place for Lucas Bergvall
Alasdair Gold claims that Jamie Donley will probably be loaned out by Spurs to make room for Lucas Bergvall.
In a last-minute move in January, Tottenham stole Bergvall from Barcelona on the day of the transfer deadline.
The midfield player, who was signed to a five-year deal by the Lilywhites, arrived from Djurgardens IF for a reported €10 million transfer price.
To make room for Bergvall in the starting lineup, however, Tottenham intends to loan away Jamie Donley, another bright young player.
This season, the 19-year-old has excelled and advanced significantly in his growth.
He has also actively participated in Ange Postecoglou’s training sessions and made four appearances for the senior squad.
One of Donley’s main advantages has been his adaptability; the Englishman has shown his skill in a variety of offensive situations.
With only 11 Premier League 2 games this season, he has already scored four goals and provided 10 assists, establishing himself as a bright future.
Donley is scheduled to move on loan to a Championship team in order to play regular, competitive senior games, notwithstanding his outstanding achievements. Alasdair Gold, a Tottenham journalist, verified the club’s plans.
On his YouTube channel, he stated:
“I think Jamie [Donley] will most likely need to go out on loan out of those two [Lucas Bergvall & Alfie Devine. You never know what will happen in any given situation.
“He might sustain injuries, or he might perform exceptionally well in the preseason and they decide they just can’t let that guy go.”
Donley’s loan out is a component of Spurs’ plan to have Bergvall in the starting lineup. After Bergvall joins, the team wants to give him the chance to fight for a midfield spot.
