Alasdair Gold confirm Spurs will loan player out next season to make room for Bergvall

Alasdair Gold thinks Tottenham will loan out Jamie Donley in the summer to create space on the roster for Lucas Bergvall.

Donley has been working with Ange Postecoglou’s team on a regular basis for the last several months, and the fact that he has already made four senior appearances this season shows how much the Australian and his staff regard the young player.

This season, the youngster has mostly been a number 10 for the first team, but he has shown for the Under-21s that he can also play as a striker or even deeper in the number eight position.

Donley’s prospects of seeing much action at Spurs the next season may be restricted since Bergvall will be integrating with the team in advance of the new campaign.

Recent sources indicate that Tottenham plans to give the Swedish wonderkid a significant first-team role in the next season (Football Insider).

Jamie Donley may be sent out on loan once Bergvall gets there.

According to Gold, Donley will be assigned to the EFL for the next season in order to get some experience playing in a competitive setting.

“I’d imagine Jamie [Donley] out of those [Lucas Bergvall & Alfie Devine] will probably will have to go out on loan,” the journalist said on his YouTube page. You never know what will happen in any given situation.

“He might have injuries, or he might simply have performed so well in the preseason that they decided to hold onto him.”

In Our Views

I believe Donley and Alfie Dorrington will be sent on loan to the Championship or League One to get some experience, as Alfie Devine and Ashley Phillips will be joining Tottenham’s first team next season.
