Tottenham could now trigger star contract clause then sell player for £3M

According to John Wenham, Tottenham defender Japhet Tanganga will depart the team permanently this summer and may possibly have his contract dissolved.

Tanganga is presently on loan with Millwall, a team located in London, in the Championship.

Due to his previous struggles with the Lions, he was benched for the club’s 4-0 home defeat against Ipswich Town on Wednesday, February 14.

The 24-year-old’s contract in North London expires at the conclusion of this season, as reported by the Evening Standard on January 17. However, Spurs have the option to extend the Englishman’s agreement by one year, until 2025.

After his latest performances, Wenham feels that Tanganga has little chance of persuading Ange Postecoglou of his value, despite having previously said that he must battle for his position under the Australian.

Wenham, in an exclusive interview with Tottenham News, stated: “I believe Tottenham will just release Tanganga if he doesn’t play between now and the end of the season.”

“If he plays, I believe Spurs would use their option to give him a one-year contract extension before trying to sell him for around £3 million.

Time will tell, but I anticipate that he will go in the summer in one of two ways.

“The reconstruction is underway, as we can see, and it’s critical that these guys go.

“We suddenly appear to be a very strong defense, so the first-team squad would be very little affected by the loss of players like Tanganga and Joe Rodon.”

Tottenham need to put Tanganga behind them.

Tanganga’s chances of coming back at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium are little to none.

There is zero possibility that he will be chosen in the N17 ahead of Radu Dragusin, Micky van de Ven, or Cristian Romero if he is having trouble finding playing time for Millwall.

In addition to those center-back choices, Postecoglou has rising prospects like Ashley Phillips and Alfie Dorrington, while Luka Vuskovic is scheduled to join the team in 2025.

Tanganga’s stay at Tottenham may soon come to an end.

Tanganga would have to pull off a remarkable feat between now and the end of the season to make his name known, since it leaves him with very little space at Hotspur Way.
