Sherwood claims 28goal ace to have turned Tottenham into title contenders by now
If Harry Kane had remained at Tottenham Hotspur, according to former manager Tim Sherwood, the North London team would have been championship challengers this season.
The 30-year-old England international has been a standout player for Bayern Munich since the beginning of the season.
With 28 goals in all competitions, Kane would have undoubtedly greatly enhanced Tottenham. With a strong season so far, the North London team is presently vying for Champions League qualifying.
Sherwood thinks that despite losing a significant player, Ange Postecoglou should be given a lot of credit for Tottenham’s success this year. Until last season, the Londoners were too dependent on Kane for goals, but this season, the team is spreading the offensive production throughout the whole roster.
Sherwood (via HITC) said, “They haven’t had to share them out because Harry Kane left the club.”
“They spread them out since Postecoglou has arrived at the club. They would be up there and really difficult if they had Harry Kane, I promise.
“I believe that a lot of the credit should go to the management. They share goals among the squad and are ahead in the goals without Harry Kane since he is the one establishing the standards and defining their playing style.
Nevertheless, they are still in need of a strong goal scorer. They may reach whole new heights if they sign a trustworthy finisher in the summer.
Under their new management, Tottenham has excelled with their free-flowing offensive style of play. Whether they can close the season strong and finish in the top four is yet to be seen.
Since the beginning of the season, they have added a number of promising young players, and with a few high-caliber acquisitions made during the summer transfer window, they may be serious competitors the following year.
