Thomas Frank makes worrying claim about Tottenham’s home record this season, fans may not agree

Thomas Frank has tried to ease growing concerns among Tottenham fans over the team’s poor home form, but his explanation hasn’t convinced everyone.

When asked why Spurs are struggling to win at home this season, the manager admitted it’s not an easy issue to solve. Speaking through the club’s official website, Frank said he believes performances, rather than results alone, should be the focus.

He pointed out that Tottenham played well against Burnley and again in the latest game, had a strong first half versus Wolves, and only truly disappointed against Bournemouth.

According to him, Sunday’s defeat to Aston Villa could easily have gone the other way if small moments had gone in their favor, insisting that Tottenham performed well overall but still have details to improve on.

Many supporters may not fully agree with Frank’s calm assessment, as frustration grows over Spurs’ inability to turn home performances into points. However, his argument does hold some truth when viewed in context.

This season’s Premier League campaign has been fiercely competitive, with every side difficult to break down. Even Manchester City had trouble unlocking Everton’s defense before eventually winning 2-0, while Liverpool surprisingly lost at home over the same weekend.

The gap between teams has closed significantly, and expecting constant dominance from home sides has become unrealistic.

Aston Villa deserve credit for their discipline and organization. They restricted Spurs’ attacking opportunities for most of the match and capitalized on the few moments they had.

Frank was right to say that on another day, Tottenham could have won, especially considering the balance of play in the first half.

Despite the defeat, there were still positives to take from the performance. The effort, structure, and energy were there what’s missing is a touch of sharpness in front of goal.

Adding to Tottenham’s challenge is their ongoing striker problem. With Dominic Solanke recovering from ankle surgery and Randal Kolo Muani spending extended time on the sidelines, Frank’s attacking options are thin.

That has left him heavily reliant on Richarlison, whose form has dipped since his bright start to the season. Despite the criticism, the manager continues to back the Brazilian, though there have been murmurs that the club might be open to selling him if the right offer arrives in January.

Recent reports suggested that Major League Soccer side Orlando City are interested in bringing Richarlison to the United States.

Journalist Pete O’Rourke shed light on the situation, explaining that while a move to MLS could appeal to Richarlison in the future, he isn’t considering leaving Tottenham at this stage of his career.

O’Rourke emphasized that the Brazilian forward remains focused on helping Spurs succeed this season and is determined to maintain his place in the Brazil national team ahead of the upcoming World Cup.

The journalist noted that the MLS has grown in stature, especially since global stars like Lionel Messi joined, but moving there now wouldn’t make sense for a player still capable of competing at the top level in Europe.

Tottenham’s asking price for Richarlison has reportedly dropped since the summer, when the club valued him at around £35 million.

That figure priced out potential buyers, but his current market situation may change if he continues to struggle for consistency. Still, his immediate focus is on turning his form around in North London.

For Frank, the task ahead is clear. He must find a way to turn good performances into wins and rebuild Tottenham’s confidence at home.

The manager has stressed patience and perspective, reminding fans that the team is evolving under his leadership. Results will come if they maintain belief and continue improving key details in their play.

Spurs may be under pressure, but their problems are fixable and with time, Frank hopes to restore the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium into the fortress it once promised to be.
