Sean Dyche makes Everton stance on Branthwaite to Tottenham transfer clear

Everton manager Sean Dyche has denied rumours that he wants to trade defender Jarrad Branthwaite to Tottenham.

According to Everton coach Sean Dyche, the club is not in need of selling players, even if Tottenham has been linked to a deal for Jarrad Branthwaite.

Branthwaite, a 21-year-old acquisition from Carlise United in 2020, has become one of the most promising young defenders in the Premier League. Since being included in Dyche’s starting lineup in August, he has been almost constant for the Toffees.

Even if selling Branthwaite during the summer transfer window may aid Everton’s financial situation, Dyche has made it plain that he does not want to do so. Earlier in the season, the Toffees were docked 10 points for Financial Fair Play (FFP) violations; however, the punishment was later lowered to six points after an appeal. They are now dealing with a second set of allegations and are still awaiting a ruling on them.

Regardless of these concerns, Dyche has said that Everton would not be selling any players in the next summer transfer window, thereby ending Tottenham’s ambitions of acquiring Branthwaite.

“We have no intention of selling any talented players,” Dyche said. He’s been an excellent player, and it’s that easy. We do not deal in the sale of players.

When there’s an issue or you’re forced to sell players, that’s when you sell them. It’s not an issue; my only hope is that we won’t have to trade players. We will have to wait and see because right now we definitely don’t.

Dyche continued by praising Branthwaite, who has been connected with real Madrid, Chelsea, Manchester United, and Tottenham Hotspur. You can’t rush into a player’s development and then declare “that’s it”; rather, you must gradually unveil their potential.

“So while he’s developing nicely and while he’s learning, sometimes the hardest thing is not to coach at all when you just step away and go ‘no, no, you’re fine, you keep doing what you’re doing’.”
