Tottenham have received £92M windfall ahead of another huge summer

With an additional £92 million in the bank, Tottenham Hotspur is now among the wealthiest teams in the world.

In anticipation of another hectic summer, Tottenham Hotspur has earned an extra £92 million, propelling the north Londoners towards mega-rich status.

During the last two transfer windows, the Lilywhites have been among the busiest Premier League teams in the market. They sold legendary goal scorer Harry Kane and used the proceeds to finance a comprehensive overhaul under new manager Ange Postecoglou.

This time last year, the club reported a 22.7% rise in income. Chairman Daniel Levy said, “Our spend levels show we have invested in the team.” In the last 12 months, Tottenham has brought on 10 permanent additions.

In addition to hosting concerts by celebrities like Beyoncé, the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium has seen a rise in income of €108 million, or around £92 million, according to a UEFA study.

As the Lilywhites continue to rise, Tottenham is one of the major winners in English football according to the latest European Club Finance and Investment Landscape research, the yearly benchmarking research on European club football from the European football regulatory body. Revenue has increased by 21%.

According to the study, “only three clubs reported declines in revenue, and the top 20 clubs by total revenue grew by an exceptionally healthy 15.7% on average in 2023, compared with an average of 11.7% across all early-reporting clubs.” Liverpool, Atletico Madrid, and West Ham United were the three teams in question with the drop.

Tottenham’s income growth is all the more remarkable given that Barcelona (€176 million), Paris Saint-Germain (€137 million), Milan (€126 million), and Napoli (€120 million) all made money last year, with three of the four teams winning their home leagues and Milan making it to the Champions League semifinals. The North Londoners did not make any kind of qualifying for European football for the first time since 2009/10.

UEFA reports that the Premier League continues to lead the way in terms of income. Nine English teams make up the top 20 in the report: Manchester United, West Ham, Brighton & Hove Albion, Chelsea, Arsenal, Newcastle United, Liverpool, and Manchester City (in that order).

The study includes four Italian teams, three Spanish clubs, three German clubs, and just PSG from France. The wealthiest 10 clubs on the list are clearly divided into three brackets, as are the following six and four spots on the list, respectively.
