Interesting one – Spurs willing to pay at least £30m for game-changer likened to Bentancur

A midfield player who has been compared to Rodrigo Bentancur (“similar”) may fetch Tottenham at least £30 million.

Spurs and Ange are connected to a new midfield signing

According to rumors over the last several weeks, Ange Postecoglou, the manager of Spurs, is reportedly on the market for a new midfield running man.

Ange evaluates Spurs forward acquisition as he watches player with “blistering pace” Postecoglou, it seems, is looking for a new number eight who can play in place of James Maddison when needed. He wants more movement and an additional advantage when passing through the center.

In only the last week, players such as Adrien Rabiot and Lucas Paqueta have been mentioned as possible targets for Tottenham. Conor Gallagher, a midfielder for Chelsea, is another name that keeps coming up despite his stature as a star player and his relationship to an arch-rival.

Under Mauricio Pochettino, Gallagher has been essential to Chelsea. He has started 24 league games for the team and is among their top 90 performers in the Premier League, according to WhoScored.

The Englishman’s current deal, however, is scheduled to end in 2025, so unless Chelsea can come to an agreement on new terms or sell him in the two windows left before he can go for free, they risk losing him for nothing the following season.

Journalist Dean Jones recently told GiveMeSport, “Tottenham are absolutely convinced that he’s the kind of dream number eight that they’re after.”

Thus, in terms of his on-field demeanor and style of play, Conor Gallagher perfectly embodies the team’s goals. Tottenham is certain that he is the sort of ideal number eight they have been searching for. Conor Gallagher, then, really does suit the concept of where they want to take this squad in terms of both playing style and attitude on the field.”

There are several reasons for Spurs to pursue Gallagher, including the fact that he is homegrown and may be less expensive if a new deal at Stamford Bridge isn’t available.

Spurs could be willing to spend £30 million for Gallagher

Reporter Jones, speaking to GiveMeSport once again, claims that Tottenham is still highly keen in getting Gallagher to north London and might be willing to spend between £30 and £35 million for him.

“His worth is diminishing,” he clarified.

“His current market worth might be estimated to be between £30 and £35 million, and I believe Tottenham would be ready to pay that amount. In January, they were unwilling to spend up to £50 million. That’s the reason nothing materialized, and I believe that will continue to be the case. It’s an intriguing one, but there is undeniable interest in Tottenham. They are just being a little hesitant about when they will really take action right now.”

There are rumors that Postecoglou is a personal fan of Gallagher, so maybe the club will act soon due to the Australian’s increasing influence. Football Transfers has also compared Gallagher to Bentancur, while Jermaine Jenas has referred to him as a “game-changer”.
