Tottenham fans hit back at unacceptable season ticket price increase

Tottenham Hotspur’s Supporters’ Trust has expressed disappointment over the decision to increase season ticket prices by six percent for the upcoming season.

The cheapest adult season ticket at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium will now be priced at £856, while the most expensive will cost £2,367.

Additionally, the trust is frustrated by the club’s plan to phase out concessions for season ticket holders aged 65 and above starting from the 2025/26 season.

Despite meeting with the club’s representatives on February 21 to voice their concerns, the trust feels their objections were not fully addressed.

According to the Tottenham Hotspur Supporters’ Trust, both they and the Fan Advisory Board oppose the season ticket price hike and the reduction of senior concessions.

Although some adjustments were made following their discussions with the club, the trust remains unsatisfied with the overall outcome.

While existing senior season ticket holders will retain their discounts for the 2024/25 season, new concessions for seniors will be completely eliminated starting in 2025/26.

The club has stated that new senior season ticket holders who turn 65 next season will still receive a 50 percent discount if they are in a concession area. However, this offers little consolation to those affected by the changes.

Furthermore, the discount for senior season tickets will decrease by five percent annually for the next five years. As a result, senior season ticket holders will face a 25 percent price increase by the 2029/30 season, which the trust deems unjustifiable.

The club issued a statement on Wednesday, acknowledging the financial pressures affecting football and emphasizing their efforts to mitigate ticket price increases while managing rising costs.

They highlighted that since the stadium’s opening in April 2019, there has been only one season ticket price hike of 1.5 percent.

However, they cited significant increases in matchday expenses such as utilities and rates, which they must absorb to maintain financial sustainability.

In response, the Tottenham Hotspur Supporters’ Trust challenged the club’s justifications. They disputed the claim that the rise in senior concession season tickets is unsustainable, arguing that these changes unfairly disadvantage loyal pensioners who have supported the club for years.

The trust expressed disappointment over what they perceive as a lack of consultation with fans at the outset of the decision-making process, believing that a more inclusive approach could have yielded a better outcome.
