24yr old is now waiting for tottenham decision before opening talks with other clubs
As reported by The Sunday Mirror (17/3; page 64), Japhet Tanganga awaits confirmation from Tottenham Hotspur regarding the activation of the one-year extension on his current contract.
Following the paths of Harry Winks and Joe Rodon, Tanganga has been revitalizing his career after a stint in the Championship.
His loan spell at Millwall since January has seen the centre-back deliver near-flawless performances, showcasing improvement with each game.
Last week, Tanganga’s agent Roberto de Fenti hinted at a potential move to Serie A for the defender in the upcoming summer transfer window.
While Tanganga’s contract with Tottenham is set to expire in June, the North London club holds the option to extend it by one year, as per CalcioNapoli24.
Despite the possibility of exploring pre-contract agreements with non-English clubs, Tanganga is unable to finalize any deal until receiving official confirmation from Tottenham, as noted by The Sunday Mirror.
The 24-year-old remains uncertain whether he will depart as a free agent in the summer or if Spurs will exercise the option to extend his contract until 2025.
In our assessment, while Tanganga may not feature in Postecoglou’s plans, it’s expected that Tottenham will opt to activate the one-year extension for the centre-back.
This move would enable the club to secure a transfer fee for him in the upcoming summer window.
