Cesc Fabregas explains why he is not a fan of Tottenham football system

Cesc Fabregas has said that he doesn’t like how Ange Postecoglou sets up Tottenham because the Lilywhites prefer to be defence reactive than offensively aggressive.

Fans of Tottenham have had the best season since Mauricio Pochettino was in charge. Postecoglou has got the team to play brave, front-foot football instead of the negative counter-attacking style that Pochettino used to use.

Many people have praised the Australian for being brave and making Tottenham the most entertaining team in the Premier League in such a short time.

But Fabregas insisted that he doesn’t like Spurs’ way, mostly because they don’t have control over the games.

Fabregas says that Tottenham is not in charge under Postecoglou.
The player who used to play for Chelsea and Arsenal also said that Tottenham’s defence is very flexible, letting the other team decide how to play.

He said that he would rather have his teams set the tone for how they protect than let the other team’s attacks do that.

The 36-year-old said of Spurs’ strategy on Planet Premier League Podcast (via The Metro): “It is brave, and you need to trust your players a lot.”

“But I don’t think you’re in control because you’re too busy reacting to things to do anything.” When the shooter wants to do something, you have to respond to their actions.

“I’ll go with him if he goes deep.” I will attack the space with him if he does. Because, as I already said, you are not in charge of this, I don’t like it. He is telling you what to do in the play.

“I like to be in charge of my own game and play defence.” If the ball is hidden, I can hit. If the ball is out in the open, my players need to drop a bit.

In Our Opinion

Postecoglou has said many times that he likes it when people question his ways. The Australian isn’t going to change his ways, and he’s going to love the chance to show Fabregas and others they’re wrong.
