That is not the reason: Postecoglou seriously unhappy with one excuse after Tottenham lose

Ange Postecoglou, the manager of Tottenham, was very upset tonight because his team, Spurs, lost to Fulham.

The Australian couldn’t believe it as his team gave up when the Cottagers put pressure on them. Tottenham just didn’t protect well, and when they went forward, they couldn’t shoot.

At one point, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg did look like he didn’t like Pedro Porro. That was pretty much the end of Tottenham’s night. The Dane told the Spanish fullback he wasn’t getting tight enough.

And it looked like boss Postecoglou was also in a bad mood after the game because he quickly replied to a BBC report that Micky van de Ven’s injury was the reason his team lost.

“That’s not why we didn’t perform today.” Postecoglou said, “Micky van de Ven is not the reason we didn’t perform today.”

Spurs would have lost if Van de Ven had been there.

Actually, the Dutch player might have made a small difference, but Spurs just had one of those nights.

In both protection and attack, key players were not on their game. Destiny Udogie had a terrible time playing defence because he didn’t do anything on either end of the pitch. Players like James Maddison also had a hard time in the middle of the pitch.

In the end, Van de Ven might have made the game a little better, but Fulham was so good and Tottenham was so bad that the outcome would have been the same.

Postecoglou and his team have a lot to work on since they don’t play again for two weeks.

It’s still unknown what the Aussie will think of the game and how he feels about beating Aston Villa so badly and then losing this one.

Postecoglou said this wasn’t a big deal, but he’ll want to make sure Van de Ven is back for the end of the month when football starts up again.
