Huge progress as SpurS Expert drops ENIC takeover verdict amid £100m plus development
John Wenham, Lilywhite Rose’s exclusive columnist for Tottenham News, emphasizes that the recent financial figures disclosed by Deloitte will bolster ENIC’s position and valuation in potential takeover discussions for Tottenham.
According to the Deloitte Football Money League’s latest edition, Tottenham’s revenue for the 2022/23 season experienced a substantial £106.4 million increase compared to the previous season.
Climbing from the ninth position in 2022 to eighth, Spurs surpassed London rivals Chelsea, making them the capital’s highest revenue-generating club. Arsenal secured the tenth position, while West Ham landed in eighteenth.
In light of these financial advancements, Wenham expresses that ENIC’s control over the club has strengthened further. He shares with Tottenham News that Spurs supporters frequently inquire about the possibility of a takeover.
Still, the recent figures will enhance ENIC’s negotiating position and increase their asking price, considering Tottenham’s financial standing among the world’s leading clubs.
Wenham remarks, “They’re going to be looking for significantly more money now off the back of this because financially Spurs are right up there with the world’s biggest clubs.” Despite the desire for more trophies, he points out the substantial progress Spurs have made, highlighting the impressive stadium and positive experiences for fans, distinguishing Tottenham from other clubs with new stadiums where supporters yearn for their old grounds.
Wenham concludes on an optimistic note, emphasizing positive developments both on and off the pitch. He notes the enjoyment fans derive from the stadium and expresses hope for continued strength under the management of Ange Postecoglou.
