Very Hard: £31M Ace In Sad Situation After His Tottenham Move Failed

Antonio Nusa faced a challenging final week of the transfer window as the potential £31 million move to either Tottenham Hotspur or Brentford fell through.

Talks were held with both clubs, with Brentford agreeing to an initial £25 million deal. However, a knee issue prevented Nusa, the Norwegian international, from making the move to the Premier League alongside fellow countrymen Martin Odegaard and Erling Haaland.

As the deadline passed, Nusa remained a Club Brugge player, and it was revealed that the knee problem played a significant role in the failed transfer.

In light of the uncertainties and Nusa’s understandable disappointment, he will be excluded from the Club Brugge squad for upcoming fixtures against Royal Antwerp and Union Saint-Gilloise.

Coach Ronny Deila emphasized the need for Nusa to have some time away from the spotlight, acknowledging the challenging week for the teenager and expressing sadness about the situation.

Despite the setback, Deila remains positive, stating that the club can still count on Nusa’s contributions during the ongoing season.

Deila, the former Celtic boss, had openly expressed his desire to retain Nusa, recognizing the player’s significance.

Although he acknowledged that Tottenham, under the management of Ange Postecoglou, playing an exciting, forward-thinking style of football, would have been a fitting destination for Nusa.

However, the unexpected knee problem led to Brentford withdrawing from the deal. Deila emphasized the need to take care of Nusa, highlighting the player’s continuous conversations with the coaching staff.

The coach expressed hope for Nusa’s swift recovery, acknowledging the uncertainty regarding when the player would return to his best form.

The potential departure of Nusa from Club Brugge in the upcoming seasons depends on his ability to address fitness concerns.

Whether the 18-year-old remains with the club in the 2024/25 season will be determined by his progress over the coming months. Tottenham, Brentford, and other interested parties are likely to monitor the situation closely.

Meanwhile, Spurs seem poised to secure the signing of another rising talent, Lucas Bergvall, in an £8.5 million deal, with Barcelona missing out on the Djurgardens wonderkid.
