The former Spurs chairman admitted the club’s current position leaves him feeling empty, although he remains hopeful Tottenham will avoid relegation and remain in the Premier League next season. Levy also revealed that during his time overseeing the building of the club’s £1 billion stadium, relegation was never once considered a realistic possibility.
Having spent nearly 25 years in charge of Tottenham before stepping down from his role last September, Levy became one of the most influential figures in the club’s modern history. While many supporters praised his work off the pitch and the transformation of Tottenham into a global business brand, others frequently criticised him for prioritising commercial growth over football success.
Now, the task of rebuilding Spurs appears to belong to a new leadership structure alongside manager Roberto De Zerbi, who is attempting to stabilise the club after taking over during the season. Sassuolo are believed to value Muharemovic at around €35 million, which is approximately £31 million, and reports suggest the Italian side are unwilling to negotiate player-exchange deals. Across 31 league appearances, he has consistently impressed with his defensive awareness, physicality, and ability to read the game.
The Bosnian defender leads his team in several important defensive categories, including aerial duels won, interceptions, clearances, and blocks. He has also contributed two goals during the season, showing he can offer a threat in attacking situations as well.
Beyond the numbers, Muharemovic has earned praise for his calmness in possession and his ability to play progressive football from the back, qualities that fit perfectly into Roberto De Zerbi’s preferred style of play. The Italian manager demands defenders who are comfortable on the ball and capable of building attacks from deep positions, making Muharemovic an appealing profile for Tottenham’s long-term plans.
With the summer transfer window approaching quickly, Spurs appear determined to avoid repeating the mistakes that have left them fighting near the bottom of the table this season.
