Pochettino opens up on his undeniable feelings for Tottenham

Chelsea supporters may take offense at Mauricio Pochettino for acknowledging that Tottenham Hotspur will always have a particular place in his heart.

Pochettino had a unique bond with the Tottenham supporters during his five and a half years there, as they would often sing his name from the terraces.

The Argentine turned the squad into a title contender and even got the club close to winning a European championship, but the Lilywhites were unable to get over the finish line and win any hardware.

Following a dismal start to the 2019–20 season, Pochettino was fired from his position at Tottenham, and the team struggled under Jose Mourinho, Nuno Espirito Santo, and Antonio Conte for many years following his departure.

But with Ange Postecoglou, who has swiftly emerged as a fan favorite since joining the team, the team seems to have finally struck gold. The Australian is playing the style of football that Tottenham supporters have been missing since the Pochettino era.

Mauricio Pochettino still has a deep affection for Tottenham

As could be expected, since the 51-year-old took over at London rivals Chelsea last summer, the Argentine coach’s relationship with Spurs supporters has deteriorated.

At Stamford Bridge, Pochettino is now under a lot of strain as the team struggles to consistently produce respectable results.

The former Tottenham manager has now expressed his regret at not being able to present a trophy at N17, thus further infuriating Chelsea fans.

According to TNT Sports, Pochettino said, “It is difficult to talk now, because it is always going to be a special club for me,” in response to the question of whether he had any regrets about his time at Spurs. I must reiterate that I was fired from the club.

“We made progress; we almost made it, but we stopped short.” Because we wanted to win, that was unfortunate and depressing. Our goal was to raise the trophy and present it to the supporters. With a stadium and training area, it is a club with some of the greatest facilities. It can accomplish their goals.

In Our View

Considering that Tottenham did not get in touch with Pochettino about their managerial job last summer, I am among the minority of Spurs supporters who do not hold it against him for joining Chelsea.

At a time when Chelsea supporters are already doubting the work he is doing, it is not very smart of the Argentine to continue speaking highly about Spurs and his love for the team.
