Player, Tottenham Hotspurs agrees five years deal – awaiting Levy sanction

On Wednesday, Gazzetta dello Sport stated AC Milan have made a lot of progress in their pursuit to sign Tottenham Hotspur’s Emerson Royal.

Later that day, Calciomercato reported the right-back has given a mandate to his agent to seal a move to the Serie A side.

A fresh report from Gazzetta dello Sport backs it up and adds that the Tottenham player wants to move to the San Siro in a ‘short time’.

It’s further claimed Emerson has reached an agreement in principle with Milan for a five-year deal worth €3m per year.

They will take advantage of this to agree a deal with Tottenham for a ‘fair’ price. There’s still distance between the two clubs, but the Rossoneri are optimistic of agreeing a deal because the Brazilian has made it clear that he wants to join them.

Tottenham paid €25m to buy the player in 2021 and are now requesting the same figure, which is more than what Milan are willing to pay.

Gazzetta insist Spurs can still make a capital gain if they were to lower their demand as they have already amortised a large part of the fee.

They add Milan are expecting to close the deal for around €18-20m including bonuses, and their intention is to complete the signing soon so that the player can start pre-season training with them on Monday.

This won’t be easy considering Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is a tough negotiator, and his side aren’t in a hurry to sell.

The report says the Italian club are still optimistic of sealing the transfer this summer and it ‘seems only a matter of time’, provided Levy gives his approval.
