Not good enough Tottenham star facing axe after brutal put down from fuming pundit
Brennan Johnson was criticized by Jamie O’Hara following Spurs’ defeat against Fulham.
After Saturday’s appalling 3-0 loss against Fulham, former Tottenham midfielder Jamie O’Hara chastised his former team and singled out one player for special condemnation.
After putting on one of their poorest performances of the year at Craven Cottage, Ange Postecoglou’s team missed the chance to go into the Premier League’s top four after winning 4-0 at Aston Villa in their previous match.
Brennan Johnson, a player signed for the summer, is one of the players that has been playing exceptionally well lately.#\5
The Wales international has begun to resemble the player that lured Tottenham to Nottingham Forest by offering a large fee for his services.
Nevertheless, Johnson did not play in a lopsided Fulham victory, neither did many of his teammates, despite receiving another start against the team after recording three goals and two assists in his previous six appearances.
It was a harsh awakening for west London, and O’Hara, like many other Spurs players, was obviously unimpressed with what he saw from Johnson.
“We have to be better,” he stated while appearing on talkSPORT. We cannot continue to dominate Aston Villa as we have, put on our best performance of the year, and then decide that we will just aim for the top four.
“The match versus Fulham is really important. I am aware that we are discussing coefficient points; we may end in fifth place, and qualifying for the Champions League may require only a fifth place result. It’s not assured, though.
Manchester United is still in the chase and in the race, despite being six points behind. Thus, in order to achieve these results, you must travel there and create difficulty. And it was miles away from us.
“Brendan Johnson is one of those players who just isn’t good enough today; he gives away too many opportunities.”
Postecoglou believes the group failed itself
Ange Postecoglou expressed dissatisfaction with his team’s performance as well, saying, “We weren’t great, especially in the second half.” Sufficiently even was the opening half. We gave up an unsatisfactory goal.
“We struggled to grasp the game in the second half. The level of intensity decreased.
“The play as a whole was disappointing, but our last third play wasn’t that spectacular either. Our intensity and tempo are two things about which we have taken great delight throughout the year. The second half did not contain that.
He went on, “That’s not the reason we didn’t perform today,” in reference to the absence of injured center-back Micky van de Ven. We didn’t perform today for no cause other than Micky van de Ven.
Postecoglou joked, “It’s more like four steps forward, one step back,” when asked if he thought the outcome was a stride forward or a step backward. If we took one stride forward and one step back, we would be closer to position eighteen.
When Tottenham hosts Luton Town in the Premier League on March 30, they will resume play.
