Former Premier League manager calls Roberto De Zerbi an ‘A**HOLE’ after Spurs boss’ training ground altercation with a player

Former Premier League manager Jesse Marsch has launched a scathing attack on Tottenham boss Roberto De Zerbi, branding him an “a**hole” over his treatment of midfielder Ismael Kone during their time together at Marseille.

The heated criticism comes after footage resurfaced showing De Zerbi involved in a furious training-ground confrontation with Kone last season. The Italian coach was seen angrily ordering the midfielder to leave training after repeatedly criticising his performance during a session.

“You can’t play, go take a shower,” De Zerbi shouted in the clip, before sarcastically telling Kone to “call your agent” as tensions escalated between the pair.

Marsch, now managing Canada, strongly defended Kone and accused De Zerbi of mishandling the young midfielder throughout his spell in France.

“It wasn’t easy for him with De Zerbi at Marseille,” Marsch said. “De Zerbi was a real a**hole to him, but Ismael stayed mentally strong and never doubted himself.”

The former Leeds United manager praised Kone’s professionalism and development since leaving Marseille, highlighting the midfielder’s improved discipline, focus and performances after moving to Italy.

Kone initially joined Marseille from Watford in a £15million deal but struggled to cement his place under De Zerbi before eventually leaving. The Canadian international has since rebuilt his career with Sassuolo, enjoying an impressive campaign in Serie A.
