Euro 2024: Denmark Star Regrets Not Beating England Despite Playing Smart

Denmark managed a 1-1 draw against England in their second group game at Deutsche Bank Park.

Although England initially took the lead, Denmark responded strongly, and many felt they could have secured all three points against Gareth Southgate’s side.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg was instrumental in Denmark’s midfield, effectively neutralizing Jude Bellingham and earning the Man of the Match award for his efforts. However, Hojbjerg expressed a willingness to trade this accolade for a victory over England.

He asserted that Denmark played smarter football and lamented their inability to clinch the winning goal.

The Tottenham midfielder told Danish broadcaster TV2, “I would have liked to exchange [the Man of the Match award] for three points. I think we played well. We played smart, and it’s a shame that we didn’t get just one more in.”

With this draw, England remains top of Group C with four points, followed by Denmark, Slovenia, and Serbia.
