Electric’ winger who Tottenham want to sign decides he prefers Premier League move over Barcelona
Tottenham Hotspur may have just been handed a boost as one transfer target reportedly wants a move to the Premier League over Barcelona.
Spurs have been stepping up their attempts to strengthen Ange Postecoglou’s squad in recent days after announcing the signing of Archie Gray on Tuesday.
The Leeds United youngster became their third official signing of the summer transfer window after the arrivals of Lucas Bergvall and Timo Werner.
Despite the return of Werner on loan, Tottenham remain keen on bolstering Postecoglou’s forward options and the wide areas proved problematic for the Aussie last season.
Injuries to Manor Solomon and Ivan Perisic left the Spurs boss short, with the latter departing on a free transfer last month.
Bryan Gil also looks set to depart this summer after struggling for regular minutes last season.
While Spurs continue to be linked with moves for options such as Stade Rennais starlet Desire Doue and Athletic Bilbao’s Nico Williams, they may have just been handed a huge advantage in their pursuit of a Championship winger.
Tottenham target wants Premier League move
Fabrizio Romano has shared the latest on Hull City winger Jaden Philogene’s future amid interest from Barcelona.
The transfer insider claims the Tottenham target is prioritising a move to England’s top flight over a switch to Camp Nou.
However, should Spurs firm up their interest in Philogene, they will face competition from the likes of Everton, Crystal Palace and Ipswich Town.
All three clubs have already sent proposals to the winger after Barca’s recent attempt to land him on a season-long loan.
Tottenham still in the race to sign Jaden Philogene
It was claimed just last week that despite interest from Barcelona, Spurs were still in the race to land Philogene this summer.
The Englishman enjoyed a standout campaign in the Championship last term after sealing a move to Hull from Aston Villa last summer. Philogene racked up 18 goal involvements in 32 league appearances for the Tigers.
Labelled an ‘electric’ winger, the 22-year-old looks set to leave the MKM Stadium this summer and given Tottenham’s previous interest, this could be one to keep an eye on.
Spurs have already snapped up one of the brightest players in the Championship in Gray and Philogene was among the star performers in England’s second tier last term
