Dutch national media deliver interesting verdict on Micky van de Ven after he started at left-back last night

Micky van de Ven, a Tottenham Hotspur player, played as a left-back for the Netherlands against Canada.

The Dutchman was among the Premier League’s finest acquisitions in 2023. He was incredibly brilliant for Spurs in his rookie season, receiving wonderful accolades from practically everyone who saw him.

Van de Ven received a 7/10 rating from Voetbal Premeur, who said that his initial minutes were uncomfortable, but he recovered and sometimes thundered over the left side.

“The defender of Tottenham Hotspur is a serious option for the base.”

Football Oranje rated him 7.5/10, writing: “At left back, Van de Ven impressed with his speed and power moving forward.

“He was a highlight in the first half, but faded in the second half. Still, a good effort by the defence.”

Van de Ven’s performance last time would have undoubtedly increased his chances of starting for the Netherlands in the Euros in Germany.

He got 77 touches and completed 45 of his 52 attempted passes, for an impressive 87 percent passing accuracy. Van de Ven also generated one opportunity.
