Crystal Palace Enter Tottenham Transfer Talks

Crystal Palace have reportedly begun discussions with Tottenham Hotspur over a possible loan move for young striker Will Lankshear ahead of the 2026/27 campaign.

According to reports, the Eagles are already planning for the upcoming transfer window as they prepare for a new era following the expected departure of manager Oliver Glasner at the end of the season.

Finding the right successor is viewed as a crucial task for the Palace hierarchy given Glasner’s impact since arriving at Selhurst Park. Under his leadership, the club have already secured two trophies and could yet add another after reaching the Europa Conference League final.

Palace in talks over Lankshear move

Reports claim Palace have opened negotiations with Spurs regarding a potential temporary deal for Lankshear, who spent the season on loan with Oxford United.

Although Oxford endured a difficult campaign that ended in relegation from the Championship, the 21-year-old striker impressed on an individual level throughout the season.

Lankshear finished the year with two major honours at the club’s end-of-season awards, picking up both the Men’s Young Player of the Year award and the Golden Boot.

Tottenham are expected to assess the striker during pre-season before making a final decision on his immediate future, though another loan spell remains a strong possibility.

Potential replacement for Mateta

Palace’s interest in Lankshear could be linked to ongoing uncertainty surrounding Jean-Philippe Mateta.

The Palace forward attracted strong transfer interest during the January window, and while no deal materialised, speculation over his future has continued.

If Mateta were to depart this summer, Palace would likely need further attacking reinforcements despite already signing Jorgen Strand Larsen from Wolverhampton Wanderers earlier in the year.

Lankshear may still be waiting for his Premier League breakthrough, but his performances in the Championship have shown he possesses the potential to develop into a reliable top-flight striker in the future.
