Exclusive: Everton ‘confident’ of agreeing deal as Tottenham swoop

According to sources who spoke to Football Insider, Everton is certain that they can sign midfield sensation James Garner to a long-term deal.

On Monday, June 3rd, Football Insider reported that the Merseysiders have begun negotiations with 23-year-old Garner over a possible contract extension.

The former Manchester United player’s current contract expires in June 2026, but Everton and manager Sean Dyche are eager to give him a longer one in recognition of his achievements.

The team is reportedly making these moves to deter interest from Premier League clubs.

This season, the England Under-21 international served as a box-to-box player, holding midfielder, and on both sides for Everton.

In the 2023–24 season, he made 44 appearances in all competitions, starting 41 of those games.

Despite persistent financial issues at the team and the recent failure of 777 Partners’ purchase, Everton has now initiated discussions with the midfield player.

Garner was acquired by the Toffees from Man United two years ago for an alleged £15 million after an outstanding loan stint with Nottingham Forest.

During the 2023–24 season, he was one of Dyche’s most important first-team players; only James Tarkowski, Jordan Pickford, and Jarrad Branthwaite saw more action.
