Sky Sports reporter shares what furious Tottenham fans did after Davies last minute miss
Tottenham’s defeat against Wolves today cost them the opportunity to maintain any kind of pressure on the clubs in and around the top four.
Two clinical goals from Gary O’Neil’s team, who posed a continuous threat on the counterattack all day, punished Spurs for not being there at the races.
It was a crushing defeat for Tottenham and evidence of their vulnerability when important players like Pedro Porro and Destiny Udogie are not included in the starting lineup.
Nevertheless, Ben Davies squandered a fantastic opportunity with his head in the last minute of play, giving Tottenham a chance to tie the score. The Welshman ruined the occasion by just doing everything wrong.
Reporter Charlotte Marsh of Sky Sports also saw the mass departure at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium as a result of Davies’ blunder.
“Oft! That was the opportunity. Davies has to take it away with less than a minute remaining. As it stands, Spurs are falling out of fourth place, and there is a steady trickle of supporters leaving the stadium, said Marsh.
Fans of Tottenham can’t be all that sad.
Tottenham needed a goal badly enough to concede against Wolves late in the game, but for the first time this season, they were unable to find one.
But in the end, Aston Villa also prevailed, making it a terrible day and a major defeat for Tottenham.
It would be fascinating to watch how Ange Postecoglou responds to this one given he hasn’t seen his club lose many games at home.
