Huge boost for Tottenham: Undropable first team player now commits long-term future to the club
Tottenham midfielder Pape Matar Sarr has indicated a wish to stay with the club as long as possible.
The Senegalese international confirmed his devotion to the club last month by signing a new deal that extends his stay until June 2030.
Sarr joined Spurs from French club FC Metz in the summer of 2021 for a €16.9 million transfer fee. He was loaned back to the Ligue 1 side until the conclusion of the season before making his long-awaited North London debut in January of last year.
Under Ange, the 21-year-old is having a breakout season, establishing himself as a regular starter alongside Yves Bissouma in the midfield. He’s appeared in 20 league games thus far, scoring three goals and assisted on two others.
Tottenham journalist for the website Football London, Alasdair Gold, gives insights from the star boy’s interview in which he indicated his wish to play for Spurs for ‘as long as possible’.
Sarr stated:
“It’s a terrific feeling to be a part of things at Tottenham. It’s become like a family to me now, therefore I’m delighted to have renewed my contract with the club.”
“The view is to stay here for as long as possible so I can really express myself on the pitch, enjoy the experience to the full with the fans and push on to win trophies.”
“I try to appreciate every match as it happens. I wanted to make this a wonderful season for all of us, as well as a pleasant one for myself.”
In Our View:
Sarr’s compatibility with Ange’s style makes him a vital asset for Tottenham, which is why his willingness to remain with the club for a long time will be a significant boost for the club, particularly given rumors of Barcelona’s interest in him.
