So clumsy: ESPN pundit feel disappointed by 26yr old Tottenham player for horrible show

Frank Leboeuf has chastised one Tottenham Hotspur player for being so sloppy throughout most of their match against Brighton on Saturday.

Ange Postecoglou’s troops once again worked hard for themselves. They trailed till the hour mark after surrendering a penalty in the opening 17 minutes.

Tottenham, however, reminded everyone why they should never be underestimated. Spurs’ Brennan Johnson scored a 96th-minute winner to return them to the Premier League’s top four.

Richarlison failed to score for Tottenham for the fourth time in his past 11 appearances. Richarlison has been brilliant recently, scoring twice against previous club Everton last weekend.

But Saturday wasn’t his day. Frank Leboeuf, commenting on ESPN, said he was startled by how awful the 26-year-old performed at important times.

“It wasn’t easy. Brighton dominated Spurs in the opening 15 minutes, which surprised me. Spurs, however, replied well. “They had some scoring opportunities, but Richarlison was so clumsy on the last pass, for example, on the assist,” he said.

Brazilians are entitled to a day off following a great run.

Fortunately for Tottenham, Richarlison stepped up in stoppage time. His assist to Spurs captain Heung-min Son set up Johnson for the clinching goal.

Richarlison is undoubtedly entitled to a day off in front of goal. He is not the striker who will score 25 goals every season. Instead, his counts are generally somewhat lower, but this is compensated by how hard he works for the squad.

Tottenham have suddenly found themselves in an incredible situation. Son had an instant influence upon his comeback. And Johnson asserted his claim to preserve his spot by proving to be their hero versus the seagulls.

However, it seems that removing Richarlison is now impossible. So Ange Postecoglou has enough to think about over the next several days.
