Tottenham in hunt to sign 26-goal striker, £25m will seal deal

Tottenham have joined the race to try and sign Lille forward Jonathan David this summer – and a £25m offer could land his signature.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed Spurs will face competition to sign him from Chelsea and Man United.

The 24-year-old has been on the radar of several Premier League clubs for several years, and he’s currently in the final year of his contract at Lille.

The French outfit have admitted they’ll likely lose him this summer and won’t stand in his way if a club is willing to make a suitable offer.

Sources say that the Ligue 1 side would be willing to accept a fee of £25million for the striker, which has attracted even more attention to him.

Spurs are in the market for a striker this summer, with Ange Postecoglou said to be “obsessed” with signing a number nine.

Tottenham would gain a natural goalscorer in Jonathan David

Signing David might not be challenging because Spurs would face competition to sign him, but he would be a smart piece of business.

The striker scored 26 goals in 47 appearances for Lille last season in all competitions, with 19 of those taking place in Ligue 1.

Finding the back of the net is something David has consistently done throughout his young career, with 121 in 266 performances at this point.

David is fresh off international duty where he played a significant role in Canada reaching the semi-final of the Copa America.

While one striker could be coming into the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this summer, one is set to depart.

Football Insider reported that Troy Parrott is travelling to Holland to undergo a medical with AZ Alkmaar after the two clubs agreed on terms.
