He suffered: Media gives £130k/week Spurs star 3/10 rating for his Nations display
Now that he gets a rare chance, Porro should take use of it to seek for additional playing time for Spain and possibly even a late push for Euro 2024.
The 24-year-old, though, didn’t exactly show off at Friday night’s London Stadium.
A few Spanish media sites criticised Porro for his performance as Spain lost 1-0 to Colombia.
For example, Sport rated the Spurs player as “crushed,” giving him a score of 3 out of 10.
About the £130,000-a-week Tottenham player, they claimed, “The Colombian star, Luis Diaz, took on him head on” (Salarysport).
“Vivian worked with him in the first half, but the hole was bigger and resulted in the winning goal in the second.”
Porro received a five-star rating from Marca, who noted that he hadn’t played for Spain since a match against Scotland on March 28, 2023. He went back to the XI today.
As the minutes went by, he was urged to attack, and in the 69th, he scored a risky volley. Along with Luis Diaz, he suffered.
It’s unfortunate that Porro’s trip to Spain wasn’t successful. In their second friendly of the international break on Tuesday, Spain plays Brazil; maybe, he will get another chance.
In order to secure another chance this month, the Spurs star will need to do exceptionally well in training. If he hopes to make a name for himself at Euro 2024, he will also need to make an impression on the five-time World Cup winners.
