Honestly, this happened: Jermaine Jenas now tells mad story about Juande Ramos at Tottenham
Juande Ramos, who used to manage Tottenham Hotspur, was the subject of a “crazy” story told by Jermaine Jenas.
Ange Postecoglou will try to end Tottenham’s long trophy drought while he is in charge of the north London club.
Fans of Spurs don’t need to be told that it’s been 16 years since they saw their team win a major trophy.
Back in 2008, Juande Ramos was the player who finally led Tottenham to victory.
Spurs beat Chelsea in the League Cup final that year at Wembley. Ramos had taken over for Martin Jol just a few months before. But the Spaniard’s time as manager didn’t last long. After a bad start to the 2008–09 season, he was fired in October.
As for Ramos’s methods at Spurs, a lot of attention has been paid to how strict he was with his players’ diets.
And Jermaine Jenas has given us more information about what was expected of Tottenham’s players at that time.
He tells a “crazy” story about Ramos at Tottenham.
On “That Peter Crouch Podcast,” Jenas talked about Ramos’ high standards while he was at Spurs.
“He took everything!” If it was pasta, you couldn’t use sauces. At halftime, he even got rid of Lucozades. “There was either water or this unique mix,” Jenas said.
“To be honest, this did happen.” This unique mix was made by mixing ice with potatoes, rice, water, and pasta. They gave it to us, and it tasted like wallpaper paste. We told him it tasted awful, but he said it was natural, so it’s all good. Take a drink.
That’s why he said, “I’ll do something for you next week. He added bourbon biscuits to make it chocolatey.” It smelled awful.
“Juande was showing the fitness coach how to do it.” It was crazy. There was this strange guy who flew in from Spain every week. You’d go into this room and stand on his scales. He’d grab all the fat on you and say, “Okay, leave.”
That being said, players should live a healthy life and take care of themselves, but this goes too far.
It’s easy to see why Ramos quickly lost support in the Tottenham team when things started going wrong.
The Spanish manager was fired after only two points were earned in the first eight games of the 2008–09 season.
As you might expect, Harry Redknapp took over for Ramos, and the rest is history.
