You can’t man mark him: Alan Pardew says Villa are going to target £40M Tottenham player in Summer
Spurs, with 50 points after 26 games, are in fifth place. Villa, who are now led by Unai Emery, the former manager of Arsenal, are fourth with 55 points from 27 games.
Next weekend, Villa will play Tottenham at Villa Park in the Premier League, and Alan Pardew, a former manager of West Ham United and Newcastle United, thinks James Maddison will be a key player.
The offensive midfielder for England, who is valued at £40 million (Sky Sports), received high marks from the talkSPORT commentator for his performance against Crystal Palace over the weekend.
Maddison offered support. Spurs prevailed 3-1 at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the London derby.
Alan Pardew discusses James Maddison, a playmaker for Tottenham Hotspur, and Aston Villa
Maddison cannot be man-marked, according to former West Ham United boss Pardew, and he thinks Villa will attempt to neutralize him the next weekend.
On talkSPORT (8:23 p.m., March 3, 2024), Pardew said the following regarding Maddison: “Maddison, I thought, he was terrific.” You know, a person searching for answers, he’s been trying to find a way through the lines or a way around the back four the whole time. He’s searching for that cutting pass, for a break that will turn the tide of play. That’s what I loved about him yesterday.
“The one thing that I will say about him which makes him difficult is that you can’t man-mark him,” the talkSPORT analyst said. You know, like that guy on number ten occasionally. You may arrange for your nanny to watch him for ninety to ninety percent of the game. However, he seems to stray everywhere. He enters the back four and starts to cause issues.
“You are unable to assign someone to him. Recognize what I mean? When you play Spurs, you have to put pressure on this guy. Additionally, I guarantee that Emery at Villa is making arrangements to take care of him the next week.
I think James Madison is one of the greatest playwrights working today.
James Maddison, an offensive midfielder for Tottenham Hotspur and an England international, is one of the best playmakers out there, in my view.
One of the most important players for the North London team this season, the 27-year-old has been outstanding for Spurs.
In 16 Premier League appearances for Spurs this season, Maddison has provided seven assists and three goals. For Ange Postecoglou’s team to finish in the UEFA Champions League spots, he will need to maintain his fitness and performance level over the next weeks and months.
