‘We will come back’: £42M SpurS player sends message to fans after disappointing FA Cup exit
Tottenham Hotspur’s FA Cup journey ended on Friday night with a defeat against Manchester City, and Cristian Romero has conveyed a message to the fans in the aftermath of their exit.
Despite a late Nathan Ake goal sending Manchester City into the fifth round, Romero took to Instagram to address Tottenham’s supporters.
This season was anticipated to be a transitional one for Spurs under Ange Postecoglou after a challenging campaign under Antonio Conte.
The team’s performance under Postecoglou has been impressive, and qualifying for the next season’s Champions League seems likely despite injuries and the absence of key players due to major tournaments.
Despite their success in the league, Tottenham might be disappointed with their performance in cup competitions this year.
Following the FA Cup exit against Manchester City, Romero acknowledged the defeat and emphasized the need to rise again, expressing confidence in the team’s positive direction.
On social media, Romero stated, “A defeat that hurts but that forces us to get up as always and keep trying, this is what it is all about. I have no doubt that we are finally all going in the right direction together. Let’s keep it up and thank you for always supporting us. we will come back stronger @spursofficial.”
Manchester City entered the match with a poor record at Tottenham’s new stadium, but Ake’s late goal secured their victory. Tottenham had earlier exited the Carabao Cup to Fulham in the second round, a result that left them longing for silverware. Despite these lessons, faith among Spurs fans is high, given the positive style of play under Postecoglou.
Tottenham has been active in the January transfer window, securing the loan signing of Timo Werner from RB Leipzig and permanently acquiring Radu Dragusin from Genoa.
However, they have reportedly missed out on young winger Antonio Nusa, who is set to join Brentford. Bryan Gil could also be allowed to move before the transfer deadline.
Romero and the fans aspire to see Spurs competing with top teams like Manchester City in both cups and the Premier League. Despite the setbacks, the team, led by Postecoglou, is moving in the right direction, with a renewed focus on returning to the Champions League.
