Two Tottenham stars with long term injuries close in on returns

According to sources who spoke with Football Insider, long-term Tottenham absences Ryan Sessegnon and Micky van de Ven are expected to make their injury comeback in January.

Among the first-team players in the Spurs treatment room, the two are at the most advanced level of their recuperation.

After the Dutchman’s injury in November and the Englishman’s setback back in February, they could play again before the end of January.

Spurs are still battling the debilitating injury issue that ruined their great Premier League debut during Ange Postecoglou’s first season in England.

James Maddison, Rodrigo Bentancur, Manor Salomon, and Ivan Perisic are among the injured; they will all be out until at least February.

Van de Ven, a 22-year-old summer acquisition for £34.5 million, had a hamstring injury during the Lilywhites’ 4-1 loss to Chelsea last month (6 November)—the same match in which Maddison developed an ankle injury.

The center defender, who had played every minute possible in all competitions before to his injury, has become one of Tottenham’s finest players this season because to his outstanding defensive performances with Cristian Romero.

The 23-year-old Sessegnon last played for Spurs in their 1-0 victory against Man City in the previous season. He suffered a terrible hamstring injury that required surgery in July and hasn’t played since the winter.

The forward missed 70 games in his first season at Spurs due to injury, and he has been out of the lineup often since joining from Fulham in 2019.

Following their 4-1 victory against Newcastle United on December 10, Tottenham is now ranked fifth in the Premier League. On Friday, December 15, they will travel to the Midlands to play Nottingham Forest.
