B. Munich in £50M transfer battle with Tottenham to add 3rd English player to ranks
Bayern Munich, having already secured the signings of Harry Kane and Eric Dier from Tottenham this season, are reportedly targeting Aston Villa’s Jacob Ramsey as they seek to add more English talent to their squad.
While Bayern Munich is actively pursuing the acquisition of Jacob Ramsey from Aston Villa, their pursuit faces challenges, and a deal appears difficult. Villa has set a hefty price tag exceeding £50 million for the talented midfielder, making negotiations complex for both Bayern Munich and Tottenham.
A potential move to Newcastle for Ramsey has been refuted by their manager, Eddie Howe, who dismissed the reports, stating that they are incorrect.
Despite Villa’s financial considerations under the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability rules, they are reluctant to part ways with Ramsey and aim to retain the player.
Unai Emery, the manager of Aston Villa, emphasized Ramsey’s significance to the team, expressing his desire to keep the talented midfielder.
Emery acknowledged the interest from other clubs and highlighted Ramsey’s growth and potential, emphasizing the player’s importance to both Aston Villa and English football.
Ramsey, who had a breakout season in 2021/22, has faced limitations in contributions this season due to injuries, making six starts and scoring once in all competitions. His contract with Aston Villa is set to run until 2027, having signed a five-year deal in 2022, expressing his pride and commitment to the club.
While Ramsey remains a crucial part of Villa’s plans, Unai Emery’s side is actively working on strengthening their squad. Their pursuit of Middlesbrough’s Morgan Rogers has faced obstacles, with three bids being rejected.
Despite the challenges, Villa is expected to make another bid for Rogers before the transfer deadline, with Emery keen on adding the 21-year-old to the squad for the upcoming fixtures.
