Decisive hours – Tottenham want to sign him now, crucial talks today for deal
On Wednesday, reports from Spain suggested that Tottenham Hotspur had made a substantial effort to disrupt Barcelona’s pursuit of Djurgårdens IF’s emerging talent, Lucas Bergvall.
Expressen later reported that the North London club had presented a ‘massive’ five-year deal to the midfielder. He is expected to make a decision between Spurs and the La Liga side in the coming days.
Mundo Deportivo now reveals that Barcelona is engaged in an intense battle with Tottenham to secure a deal for the 17-year-old midfielder.
Earlier this week, Bergvall, the Sweden international, visited Barcelona’s facilities and met their sporting director, Deco. Although the Blaugrana have reached an agreement with Djurgårdens IF, Bergvall left Barcelona without confirming his acceptance of their offer. This uncertainty is attributed to Tottenham’s persistent interest.
Tottenham has reportedly entered the race to sign Bergvall, assuring him immediate integration into their first team. In contrast, Barcelona plans to start him in their youth team initially, promoting him to the senior team next season.
According to Mundo, Ange Postecoglou’s side is eager to lure Bergvall away from Barcelona and secure his signature promptly.
Carlos Monfort, a journalist from Jijantes FC, shared on X (formerly Twitter) that Tottenham is making an all-out effort to secure the Swede’s signature. He further mentioned that Bergvall’s agent met with Deco and then traveled to London, presumably to meet with Tottenham, yesterday.
As Spurs intensify their efforts to sign the Djurgårdens IF teenager, Carlos Monfort emphasizes that these are crucial hours in determining Bergvall’s future.
