Tottenham urged to swerve summer move for 24yr Old EPL attacker
Tottenham Hotspur have recently been linked with Wolverhampton Wanderers winger Pedro Neto. The 24-year-old has become a key player for Wolves, catching the attention of the North London club with his consistent performances in the Premier League.
Despite his proven ability, some experts believe that Tottenham should prioritize other areas of their squad.
Bryan King, a former scout, has voiced his opinion that Tottenham should focus on signing a top-tier number nine rather than another winger.
King argues that Spurs already have ample talent in the wide areas, including Richarlison, Son Heung-min, Brennan Johnson, and Dejan Kulusevski.
According to King, the absence of a clinical striker has been a significant issue for Tottenham since Harry Kane’s departure, and addressing this need should be their primary focus.
King elaborates on Tottenham’s current roster, emphasizing that they are well-stocked with wingers. “Brennan Johnson was signed for big money, Dejan Kulusevski is there, and they of course have Son Heung-min also,” King stated in an interview with Tottenham Hotspur News. Given this depth, King believes that adding another winger like Neto is unnecessary.
King highlights the importance of a marquee striker signing to rejuvenate the fans’ excitement and bolster the team’s chances in the Premier League.
“They do need that marquee signing to get supporters excited because, at the moment, supporters aren’t excited. The price of everything is going up at the club, and fans need a boost to see that the club mean business. Tottenham in their present state will not challenge for the Premier League,” he added.
Last season, Tottenham often deployed Son Heung-min as their center forward, but his natural position is on the wing. This tactical adjustment underscores the pressing need for a specialist goal scorer.
Bringing in a quality striker could significantly enhance Tottenham’s attacking options and overall performance.
Tottenham’s ambitions for the upcoming season include pushing for major trophies and securing a spot in the Champions League.
Signing a reliable and prolific goal scorer would be a critical step towards achieving these goals. While the team has several capable wide players, the lack of a dedicated number nine remains a glaring gap in their lineup.
In recent months, Tottenham has been linked with several strikers, including Ivan Toney and Santiago Gimenez. These players could potentially fill the void left by Harry Kane and provide the consistent goal-scoring threat that Tottenham needs.
The upcoming transfer decisions will be crucial in determining the club’s success in the next season.
While Pedro Neto is undeniably a talented player, Tottenham’s immediate focus should be on securing a top-quality striker. The current roster already boasts a wealth of talent in the wide areas, and investing in a marquee number nine would address a more pressing need.
By prioritizing a goal scorer, Tottenham can enhance their competitiveness and aim for higher achievements in the Premier League and beyond.
