With the January transfer window now open, Tottenham Hotspur are once again at the centre of debate as fans and pundits try to work out what kind of business the club will do over the coming weeks.
After an up-and-down first half of the 2025/26 season, there is a clear feeling that Spurs cannot afford to stand still if they want to push forward under Thomas Frank.
Injuries have played a major role in Tottenham’s inconsistency so far. Key players have spent long spells on the sidelines, and that has made it difficult for Frank to build rhythm or settle on a fixed starting eleven.
Despite that, the head coach has made it clear that the club will only move for players who truly improve the squad, rather than signing for the sake of activity. His message has been calm but firm: Tottenham will be in the market, but only if the right opportunities appear.
Behind the scenes, there is growing confidence that this could be a busy window. Spurs are believed to be looking closely at several positions, with the left wing, midfield, defence, and full-back areas all under review.
The aim is not just to add depth, but to raise the overall level of the squad and reduce the drop-off when injuries strike.

Full-back is another position high on the agenda. Destiny Udogie’s ongoing fitness issues have forced Tottenham to shuffle their options, with Djed Spence stepping in admirably when needed.
However, there is a desire to add a natural left-footed left-back who can compete with Udogie and also allow Spence to focus on challenging Pedro Porro on the right. Savinho has been mentioned as a potential target, and while he would add pace and creativity, his preference for the right side could complicate matters. Even so, there is a strong belief that Spurs will bring in at least one attacking player before the window closes.
Any further arrivals may depend heavily on who leaves. Tottenham are open to loaning out younger players to support their development, while also remaining flexible if unexpected offers come in for senior squad members.
Players like Wilson Odobert, who impressed with a lively cameo recently, are expected to stay and be given more chances to show what they can do.
