Tottenham to wrap up £40M ace deal who Pochettino loves 47

Tottenham Hotspur’s technical director Johan Lange, manager Ange Postecoglou, and chairman Daniel Levy are set to make a bid for Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher.

Although Spurs haven’t made a move yet due to Gallagher’s preference to avoid distractions during Euro 2024, Chelsea is open to selling him but demands over £50 million.

Chelsea uses the £55 million deal they struck with Manchester United for Mason Mount, who had one year left on his contract, as a benchmark for Gallagher’s valuation.

Tottenham initially valued Gallagher at £35 million last year and are hesitant to significantly increase their offer. They aim to secure him for around £40 million, a figure close to what they paid for James Maddison. This slight increase acknowledges Gallagher’s improved form.

Atletico Madrid has emerged as Tottenham’s main rival, having already made a verbal offer of £20 million plus bonuses, which was rejected. With Saul Niguez moving to Sevilla, Atletico is keen on adding Gallagher to their midfield. Aston Villa, after initial talks, has shifted focus to signing Everton’s Amadou Onana for around £50 million.

Conor Gallagher remains committed to Chelsea, striving to secure his place despite persistent transfer rumors. Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino praised him as “priceless” last season.

However, with his contract expiring in 2025 and no new deal in sight, Gallagher is aware of Chelsea’s openness to offers. A move could enhance his chances of making England’s squad for the 2026 World Cup. While staying another year and entering free agency is an option, Chelsea wants to avoid this scenario.

Tottenham is also seeking a new striker, a priority that will intensify if Richarlison leaves. Saudi clubs Al-Ittihad and Al-Qadsiah are prepared to offer close to £60 million for the Brazilian forward.

Although Heung-min Son is also a target for Saudi clubs, Spurs are not willing to sell their captain this summer. Instead, they will trigger a one-year extension, keeping Son until 2026.

Tottenham is considering Canadian striker Jonathan David from Lille, available for around £25 million as he enters the final year of his contract.

However, Spurs may face competition from Chelsea, West Ham United, and Newcastle United. They are also monitoring Feyenoord’s Santiago Gimenez, but reports of bids for Brentford’s Ivan Toney or Bournemouth’s Dominic Solanke have been denied.

Despite securing Timo Werner on loan, Tottenham seeks another wide player and has identified Rennes’ Desire Doue as a key target. The 19-year-old’s ability to play on either wing or as an attacking midfielder makes him highly valuable.

Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain have made formal offers but haven’t met Rennes’ €60 million asking price. Rennes, not under financial pressure, holds a strong negotiating position.

Tottenham is also focusing on outgoing transfers. Emerson Royal is likely to leave, though AC Milan’s interest has cooled after a €10 million bid was rejected. Borussia Dortmund and Al-Nassr are potential suitors.

Spurs plan to sell Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, with Galatasaray and AC Milan interested. Sergio Reguilon might move to Dortmund, and Djed Spence could depart if a suitable offer arises after Genoa’s failed attempt to secure him last season.

Tottenham is confident in retaining 16-year-old Mikey Moore despite interest from PSG and Real Madrid. Moore, set to sign a professional contract in August, has been training with the first team. Meanwhile, 19-year-old striker Will Lankshear has signed a new five-year contract and is expected to go on loan, with Sunderland, Wrexham, and Hull City showing interest.

Tottenham’s transfer strategy involves balancing key acquisitions with necessary departures. The pursuit of Conor Gallagher, potential moves for strikers like Jonathan David, and securing versatile players like Desire Doue highlight their proactive approach.

As Spurs navigate the transfer market, they aim to build a robust squad ready to tackle the challenges of the upcoming season under Ange Postecoglou’s leadership.
