Tottenham to accept offer for disgruntled star now, as 3 huge clubs prepare rapid moves
Tottenham is prepared to part ways with a star player whose performance has declined under Ange Postecoglou, and reports indicate that three major clubs are poised to make a move.
Under Postecoglou’s management, Tottenham has emerged as a club on the rise in the Premier League, implementing an exciting and progressive style of play. Their attractive football has translated into improved results on the pitch.
Son Heung-min’s decisive goal against Luton Town further solidified Tottenham’s hopes of qualifying for the Champions League next season.
With the expanded format, securing fifth place in the league should be sufficient for qualification, and Tottenham currently holds a comfortable eight-point lead over sixth-placed Manchester United.
While many players have thrived under Postecoglou, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg’s career has suffered a setback. The 28-year-old Danish midfielder, who was a regular starter under previous managers, has seen less playing time under Postecoglou, who prefers Pape Sarr and Yves Bissouma in midfield. Tottenham’s intention to add Conor Gallagher to their squad further dims Hojbjerg’s prospects.
Speculation surrounding Hojbjerg’s departure this summer has intensified, with reports suggesting that Tottenham is open to offers for the midfielder. With only one year left on his contract, an exit seems likely.
According to Goal, three European giants are eyeing Hojbjerg: Atletico Madrid, Juventus, and Napoli. Tottenham hopes to spark a bidding war among these clubs to recoup the £15 million they paid to sign Hojbjerg from Southampton four years ago.
Last summer, Hojbjerg was close to leaving Tottenham, with Fulham seeking his services as a replacement for Joao Palhinha.
However, Hojbjerg rejected the move, leading Fulham to withdraw from Palhinha’s potential transfer to Bayern Munich.
Despite his reduced playing time at Tottenham, Hojbjerg remains confident in his ability to secure a starting role at a Champions League-caliber club.
Of the three interested teams, only Juventus would currently compete in the Champions League next season. Atletico Madrid sits fifth in LaLiga, while Napoli is struggling in eighth place in Serie A.
Juventus occupies third place in Serie A, making them likely to secure UCL qualification barring a dramatic downturn in form.
