Tottenham to approach complete £30M midfielder better than Gallagher

Tottenham Hotspur is actively seeking to bolster its midfield before the transfer deadline, and reports indicate that the club has made a move for Atalanta’s Ederson.

While Chelsea’s Conor Gallagher remains Spurs’ primary midfield target, securing a deal for Gallagher seems challenging. Consequently, the Brazilian midfielder Ederson is seen as a more realistic option for Tottenham.

Reports from Italy suggest that Tottenham has indeed approached Atalanta with an interest in signing Ederson. The Brazilian midfielder is valued at around £30 million and is reportedly open to a move to the Premier League.

Interestingly, it is reported that Fabio Paratici, who has previously assisted Tottenham in various deals, could be involved in facilitating the Ederson deal. Paratici, while not directly employed by the club, has played a role in Spurs’ recent transfer negotiations.

Corriere Torino claims that Paratici might be working to assist Tottenham in securing a deal for Ederson, potentially hindering Juventus’ aspirations to sign the Brazilian midfielder.

The report suggests that this could be seen as a form of ‘revenge’ for Paratici, who faced a ban from football due to his involvement in the scandal at Juventus.

While acquiring a new midfielder before the deadline isn’t mandatory for Tottenham, it could significantly benefit the team. The challenge lies in offloading players like Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg to create room in both the squad and the budget.

While Ederson is considered a good option, there might be a sense that Spurs are settling for him due to difficulties in securing Gallagher. If that’s the case, waiting until the summer transfer window could be a strategic move for Tottenham.
