Tottenham think £40m player will be a dressing room leader if he signs for Spurs
Tottenham Hotspur still have business to do this summer. Archie Gray and Timo Werner may have already arrived, but Spurs still have a few more signings they need to make.
While a lot of the focus has been on Tottenham’s attack in recent weeks, Spurs also need to bolster their midfield more.
Conor Gallagher is a player Spurs have liked for a long time, and speaking on Last Word on Spurs, Ben Jacobs has shared an update on Tottenham’s interest in the £40m man.
According to Jacobs, Tottenham still really like Gallagher, claiming that they really appreciate his leadership abilities and the fact that he would be a positive influence in the dressing room.
Tottenham think Conor Gallagher could be a leader
Jacobs shared what he knows about the England international.
“This is a post-Euros thing. The situation is exactly the same. Tottenham like Gallagher and feel they could still add another midfielder, moreso if Hojbjerg goes which is the expectation,” Jacobs said.
“Gallagher is someone they feel can offer leadership, be a positive dressing room influence and he’s versatile.”
Tottenham need more leaders
Conor Gallagher could be a leader for Spurs, and that’s exactly what Tottenham need.
Spurs, as talented as their squad is, don’t have that many leaders.
The likes of Destiny Udogie, Pape Sarr, Micky van de Ven, Brennan Johnson and Archie Gray are all too young to be considered leaders, and while Heung-Min Son is the club captain and a veteran, he’s not the most vocal on the pitch.
Gallagher on the other hand is never scared to have his voice heard on the pitch, and, by the sounds of it, he’s a similar sort of character behind the scenes.
This could be a brilliant signing for Tottenham in more ways than one, now it just remains to be seen if Spurs actually make their move.
