In 2024, Tottenham Hotspur has a lot to look forward to, and one young star you should watch out for is Alfie Dorrington.
The club has been entirely revamped by Ange Postecoglou. Now that the whole Tottenham fan base is behind him, it seems he is the guy who will take the team to new heights in the years to come. An important element of his plans for the future involves young Dorrington.
Since the beginning of the season, Tottenham has been outstanding, and their starting lineup is capable of facing the majority of the nation’s teams.
But their squad’s lack of depth, particularly in defence, is a vulnerability.
When they are healthy, Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven are unquestionably the team’s starters. However, when these two players aren’t available, Ange Postecoglou has had to rely on players like Ben Davies and Emerson Royal.
Tottenham plans to add a defender in January, but ideally they would want to add two. We believe Alfie Dorrington can be used to internally fill a vacancy.
One of the nation’s most gifted centre defenders at his age is the 18-year-old. He has been shown a lot of potential in the Tottenham background, and Postecoglou has already indicated that he could give him a chance in the next days.
Dorrington, who Alasdair Gold called a “terrific talent,” has all the makings of a fantastic player for Tottenham, and we believe he will see some action soon.
Dorrington could be able to save Tottenham millions.
Although the adolescent has previously seen action as a substitute for Tottenham on a few occasions, Alfie Dorrington has not yet made his senior team debut.
The main reason Postecoglou hasn’t thrown him in the deep end yet is because of his lack of experience at the highest level, but we really believe he will make his debut when Spurs play Burnley at home in the FA Cup in January.
In the transfer window that opens next month, Tottenham will need to spend a significant amount of money on a new center-back. We believe Spurs should give up on the notion of adding a second centre back and instead trust Dorrington.
In training, he has been making an impression on Postecoglou and the others, and he is more than capable of serving as Tottenham’s starting backup. If everything goes according to plan, this gifted child might wind up saving Daniel Levy millions of dollars.
