Deeney was engaged in a TikTok game where she had to rate 10 randomly selected football players.
The Birmingham native ranked Walker at number four before placing King at number ten to wrap out the video.
Other than stating that “Kyle is up there” with the greatest, Deeney did not provide much context for his choice. He did, however, add that he “was happy” with King at No. 10 because of his lack of playing time.
Despite having a well-known history of injury setbacks, the 43-year-old made 322 appearances for Tottenham and rose to become a cult favorite in N17.
Walker, an England international, played 227 games for Spurs until being traded to Manchester City in July 2017 for a sum of £50 million.
Spurs supporters will beg to disagree.
Walker is without a doubt one of the best defenders of his time, but we believe Deeney has undervalued King in this situation, as I’m sure many Spurs supporters would as well.
In addition, King was ranked behind players like Micah Richards and Gary Cahill, who undoubtedly would have been more well-known if he hadn’t suffered from injuries.
Many, notably Gabriel Agbonlahor, think the Londoner would have made history as one of the best defenders of his age had he been more fortunate in terms of his physical condition.
Walker is deserving of his ranking of No. 4 in Deeney’s ranking, but a defender with King’s caliber of skill shouldn’t be confined to the very bottom.
