Tottenham’s 2nd most expensive signing attracting huge interest but selling him might not be bad at all
Al-Ahli, one of the prominent clubs in the Saudi Pro League and owned by the Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund (PIF), has reportedly set its sights on Tottenham Hotspur’s Brazilian forward, Richarlison.
According to the Saudi outlet Al-Riyadiyah, the Jeddah-based club has initiated talks to bring Richarlison on board this summer as they look to bolster their squad ahead of the new season.
Al-Ahli already boasts a star-studded lineup featuring Riyad Mahrez, Edouard Mendy, Roberto Firmino, and Franck Kessie. The addition of Richarlison would further strengthen their squad and enhance their chances of contending for the league title this season. The club’s ambitions are clear, and they are not shying away from investing in top talent to achieve their goals.
In 2022, Tottenham Hotspur signed Richarlison from Everton for a substantial £60 million on a five-year deal. The Brazilian forward had a significant impact at Everton, scoring 10 goals and providing five assists to help the club avoid relegation. Tottenham viewed Richarlison as a key player who could potentially replace Harry Kane in the long term.
Richarlison had a mixed season at Tottenham. Despite scoring 11 league goals and providing four assists, injuries hindered his ability to consistently perform at his best.

Selling Richarlison might not be the worst move for Tottenham. Despite his potential and flashes of brilliance, his tenure at Spurs has been marred by injuries and inconsistency.
Tottenham has been linked with several top strikers in Europe, including Brentford’s Ivan Toney and Manchester City’s Julian Alvarez, who could offer different attacking options and strengthen the squad.
Tottenham’s interest in Crystal Palace midfielder Eberechi Eze indicates their intent to reinforce the squad with young, dynamic talent. Eze, admired by manager Ange Postecoglou, would come at a significant cost but could be a valuable addition.
Selling Richarlison for a fee above £50 million could provide the necessary funds to pursue these targets and bring in younger players with more hunger and on smaller wages.
