Tottenham reportedly could ruin West Ham’s summer by signing ‘special’ £52 million forward

Tottenham Hotspur reportedly could be set to cause West Ham United a very big problem this summer.

Both West Ham and Tottenham have an incredibly busy summer transfer window lying ahead of them.

Incoming Hammers boss Julen Lopetegui desperately needs to sign a top-class striker, and that is said to be his main priority.

Meanwhile, Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou is definitely in the same boat as his Spanish counterpart.

Now it seems like both London clubs could be chasing the same player, although Tottenham could well be in the driving seat.

Spurs are said to be prioritising talks to sign Santiago Gimenez this summer, according to a report from Give Me Sport.

West Ham have been heavily linked with a move to sign the Feyenoord star over the past six months or so.

Losing out on the Mexico international would be a real kick in the teeth for the Hammers…

Tottenham could beat West Ham to Santiago Gimenez

So Spurs are apparently leading the race for the prolific former Cruz Azul centre-forward.

Whichever club wins the race for the 6ft hitman this summer will be in a very strong position heading into the season, he’s that good.

Unfortunately for West Ham though, Tottenham seem to be ready to wreck our dream summer transfer.

Soon-to-be Liverpool boss Arne Slot recently described the Feyenoord forward as ‘special’, when speaking to Feyenoord.nl back in April, and he’s absolutely bang on the money.

He is quick, incredibly strong and a superb finisher. The Mexican has all of the attributes needed to succeed in the Premier League, what with his strength, aerial ability and tight ball control.

Gimenez has bagged an impressive 23 goals and six assists in 30 Eredivisie appearances this season. He has 49 goals and 11 assists in total to his name in 86 career games for Feyenoord (Transfermarkt).

He’s literally the perfect striker for the Hammers, and his presence in the team would take us to another level instantly.

It is expected that Feyenoord will demand around £52 million for the clinical centre-forward this summer (Goal).

If Tottenham go all out to sign Santiago Gimenez and end up winning the race for his signature, it will be a major blow for West Ham.
