Tottenham has found Harry Kane replacement, France coach labelled ace as fantastic guy – Opinion

Tottenham Hotspur could be on the verge of signing a replacement for Harry Kane, just over a year after the star forward left the club. Kane departed for Bayern Munich, seeking trophies, as Tottenham had just missed out on UEFA Champions League qualification.

The absence of a natural center-forward last season cost the Lilywhites dearly, with Aston Villa clinching the final Champions League spot despite a promising campaign under Ange Postecoglou.

This summer, Tottenham has made it clear that signing a new center-forward is a priority. Spurs have identified Santiago Gimenez as their main target. However, according to HITC, Tottenham is also progressing in talks with Bournemouth to sign striker Dominic Solanke, with the Englishman open to a move away from the South Coast club.

HITC reports that Tottenham is willing to pay £65 million for Solanke this summer but prefers to restructure the payments. Solanke has a £65 million release clause in his Bournemouth contract, which is only viable for the Premier League’s Big Six. While Chelsea previously showed interest, Tottenham is now the frontrunner for Solanke’s signature.

Last season under Bournemouth’s manager Andoni Iraola, Solanke netted an impressive 19 Premier League goals and provided three assists. Despite an earlier unremarkable stint at Liverpool, Solanke has found his stride at Bournemouth.

Since his move in 2018, he has been inconsistent, scoring 29 goals in the Championship but struggling initially in the Premier League. However, his performance last season suggests he is ready for a significant role at a top club.

Former Arsenal icon Thierry Henry praised Solanke’s recent performances. Speaking to Amazon Prime Sport, Henry said, “Dominic Solanke, the way he is playing at Bournemouth, is brilliant.

Not only him, the team is doing extremely well, but we have been waiting for him to be that player. I guess it was a bit too much when he was younger. But what he is doing right now is brilliant.”

According to FBREF, Solanke shares similarities with RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko, particularly in his passing abilities. Like Kane, Solanke excels at being the fulcrum for his team.

While he may not be on Kane’s level yet, there is potential for significant development under Postecoglou’s guidance. If Tottenham can nurture Solanke’s talent and improve his all-around game, they could become a formidable force next season.

Tottenham’s pursuit of Solanke is part of a broader strategy to strengthen their squad and return to Champions League contention. With Postecoglou at the helm, the club is looking to build on last season’s promise by securing a reliable and dynamic forward. The acquisition of Solanke could provide the goals and attacking presence needed to compete at the highest level.

The potential signing of Dominic Solanke marks a new era for Tottenham Hotspur as they seek to fill the void left by Harry Kane. By bringing in a forward with proven Premier League experience and untapped potential, Spurs aim to reestablish themselves as top contenders. With strategic investments and a focus on player development, Tottenham is poised for a successful season ahead.
