Exclusive: Tottenham plot new swoop to sign Birmingham sensation, he’s already had Spurs trial
Tottenham Hotspur has reignited their pursuit of 20yr old central defender Rico Browne after he turned down a new contract from Birmingham City.
Sources from Football Insider reveal that both Tottenham and Brighton have shown official interest in securing the young talent.
Previously, Tottenham attempted to bring Browne into their fold, offering him an 18-month contract. However, Browne opted to sign a new deal with Birmingham City at that time.
Now, with his future at Birmingham uncertain after rejecting their latest extension offer, Tottenham sees a renewed opportunity to acquire the promising defender.
Last season, Browne spent his time on loan at Rushall Olympic in the National League North. Despite playing as a central defender, he made 18 appearances, contributing one goal and one assist.
His consistent performance caught the attention of top clubs, despite not yet making a first-team appearance for Birmingham. The St Kitts and Nevis youth international has played for both the Under-21 and Under-18 teams at Birmingham.
