Departed Tottenham player admits he had many options to choose from in January
After spending 11 and a half years at Tottenham, Hugo Lloris, the club’s long-serving captain, made a move to Los Angeles FC, signaling the end of an era at Spurs and leaving behind a legacy as one of the world’s top goalkeepers.
Despite facing a decline in performance over the last 18 months and being relegated to third choice in his final six months at Tottenham, Lloris had several options to consider for his next move.
Reports indicate that Tottenham agreed to pay off the remaining six months on Lloris’ £100,000-a-week deal, with the goalkeeper reportedly accepting a pay cut to join Major League Soccer (MLS) side Los Angeles FC.
Lloris revealed that he was attracted to the idea of playing in the United States, expressing his desire to discover a new continent after 19 years in the professional world. Despite football not being the primary sport in the U.S., Lloris believes the country represents a significant opportunity in sports.
Acknowledging that there were many options available, Lloris mentioned that other clubs, including Nice, were not part of his plans.
Despite his affection for Nice, he was eager to try something new and expressed happiness with his choice of joining the MLS. Lloris is looking forward to discovering his new environment and is excited about the experience.
In Our Opinion, the move to the MLS is considered a great decision for Lloris and his family. The expectation is that he may continue playing in the MLS for another three or four years before retiring from professional football.
